The Mandan Horse and Saddle Club invites the public to attend North Dakota High School Rodeo Association competitions on August 19-20. The rodeos will be held at the Dale Pahlke Arena on the Dakota Community Bank and Trust Rodeo Grounds, part of Dacotah Centennial Park in Mandan.
Saturday’s rodeo begins with cattle cutting competition at 7-9 a.m. and the remainder of the rodeo running from 11 a.m. to approximately 8 p.m. Sunday’s rodeo runs from 8 a.m. until about 5 p.m.
Approximately 160 contestants from across the state will compete in events including bull riding, bareback riding, breakaway roping, tie-down roping, barrel racing, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, goat tying, team roping and pole bending.
These are the 16th annual high school rodeos hosted by the Mandan Horse and Saddle Club. The rodeos mark the start of a new season for the state’s high school rodeo competitors.
