Denver, Colorado — North Dakota’s Badland Circuit Finalist Bareback rider Clay Jorgenson lit the scoreboard at the Denver Coliseum this week making a significant 82-point ride on Bailey Pro Rodeo’s ‘View Master 91’.
The National Western Denver Stock Show & PRCA Rodeo is one of Colorado’s premier tourist destinations and is held every January for 16 days. It is home to western heritage, entertainment, and one of the world’s biggest paying regular season professional rodeos. It also hosts one of the country’s largest horse shows, trade show, and brings in over half a million visitors each year.
“The first time I saw View Master 91 was in the practice pen about a year ago in Watford. Bailey Pro Rodeo just got a load of horses from Canada, and he was one of them. My traveling partner, Ben Kramer, was recovering from a major injury, and Shane Gunderson of Bailey Pro Rodeo had Ben get on him. We both knew he was awesome that day, “ said Jorgenson. “I’ve been waiting to draw him ever since then.”
And that combination worked for the cowboy. “I’ve seen him go 10 times or more, and he has a similar trip every time. I saw him in the alley and his perfect withers and I was confident for a match with him,” Jorgenson added.
After having some tough luck in Odessa, Texas and down south at the start of January and hurting his ankle, Jorgenson said the pain kind of went away when he drew View Master 91. The winning ride in Denver, paired with his second ride, put him in a 3rd place tie solidifying his spot into the semi-finals.
“Go ahead and put yourself out there; it’ll make you step up your game. If you have the chance to go to bigger rodeos and the opportunity, I highly recommend it. Getting out of your comfort zone and competing is what it’s all about,” recommended the champion bareback rider from Watford City.
